Barkin' Basement Open Year Round



When thinking about shopping don’t forget Yancey Humane Society’s Barkin’ Basement!  Everyone knows how great the YHS Fall Flea has been for years. Now you have the opportunity to take advantage of those great savings year round. The Barkin' Basement is located in the Burnsville Plaza Shopping Center between Fred's and Go Grocery. They have everything from furniture, to home goods, to clothing, to sporting goods, books and everything in between at amazingly low prices. The store is open for sales and drop-offs on MondayTuesdayWednesday,Friday and Saturday from 10am until 5pm. It is closed on Sundays and Thursdays. They accept cash, credit/debit cards and checks as payment for purchases.  Large and numerous item donation pick-ups may be scheduled by going to the store or calling the animal shelter at 682-9510.

They also do a large adopt-a-thon at the store the 1st 
Saturday of every month with cats and dogs present at the store.  The store utilizes dozens of volunteers and is co-managed by YHS Executive Director Tim Tipton, YHS Board Member Sue Wells and Golda Peterson acting under the direction of the YHS board of directors and YHS President Jim Jamieson. Volunteers play a critically important role in the success of the shelter and the store.  Volunteers who work at the Barkin' Basement must be or willing to become members of the Yancey Humane Society.
