Join High Peaks for Big Laurel Creek Hike

All are welcome to join the High Peaks Trail Association for a hike along picturesque Big Laurel Creek near Hot Springs on Saturday, April 5. This moderate-to-easy jaunt of six miles will follow the stream as it tumbles down its rocky gorge toward the French Broad River.

Hikers should assemble at the Burnsville Town Square at 8:30 a.m.; the group will car-pool to the trail head. Anyone wishing to drive on their own can meet the group at the Town Square or drive directly to the trailhead, where the group will gather around 9:15 a.m.

The trailhead is on Highway 25/70, about 20 miles west of Mars Hill. Park on the left just before the bridge crosses Big Laurel Creek. This is also at the intersection of Highways 208 and 25/70.

Leashed dogs are welcome. Bring a lunch, warm clothes and plenty of water, and be sure to check the club’s website, www.nchighpeaks.org, or its Facebook page for last-second changes due to the weather.
