Civial War Era Weapon Donated to Yancey History Museum
Palma L. Bennett, left, of Hendersonville, is a native of Yancey County and the great grandson of Civil War veteran Samuel Bennett. Last week he presented The Rush Wray Museum in Burnsville with a 32 caliber flintlock rifle owned by his great grandfather to be displayed by the Yancey History Association. Pictured with Mr. Bennett are YHA President Elaine Boone and Historical Association volunteer and Civil War reenactment participant Roger Ray. You can see the Civil War era weapon and lots more local history at the McElroy House on Academy Street in Burnsville.
