Details: Russell David Thomas of Troutman went to be with his Lord and Savior in his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, April 8th.
     He was born on June 13, 1928 in Yancey County, NC, to the late Robert and Mary Parker Thomas. 
     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by step-mother, Vaughtie Pate Thomas; and infant son, Donald Lee Thomas. 
Rev. Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Helen Ray Thomas. Those left to cherish his memory are sons, Phillip Thomas and wife, Angie, Ronnie Thomas and wife, Bonita; daughters, Linda Patrick and husband, Michael, Elaine Thomas; grandchildren, Heather Kelley and husband, James, Christopher Thomas and wife, Crystal, Michael Thomas and wife, Michelle, Rusty Thomas and wife, Nicole, Adam Thomas and wife, Lisa, Tracy Harrison and husband, Billy, Ashley Atherton and husband, Jeremy, Laura Elliott; two sisters, Francis McCurry and husband, Dennis, Peggy Ray; one brother, Jim Thomas and wife, Judy. Rev. Thomas was blessed with nineteen loving great grandchildren.
     After his retirement from Reeves Bros, Rev. Thomas devoted many years to spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ to inmates across America with Rock of Ages Prison Ministries. He was a member of a loving and supportive church family at Gloryland Baptist Church of Statesville.
     A visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, April 9 from 6-9 pm at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 10 at 11:00 AM at Gloryland Baptist Church, Statesville. Graveside service will be held at 4:30 pm at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, Burnsville.
     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
     The Thomas family would like to thank hospice for the excellent care given to our loved one.
