Nearly 400 pets received the rabies vaccine in just 5 hours at the Yancey Humane Society Spring Rabies Clinic held on April, 26, 2014. That's an average of almost 1 1/2 pets vaccinated per minute! The next rabies clinic will be June 28, 2014 at the animal shelter. This clinic is the follow up clinic to the emergency clinic we held last year in response to the 2013 rabies positive cases in the South Toe community. Residents who attended the clinic last June will need to attend this clinic.
YHS Executive Director Tim Tipton and shelter veterinarian of record Dr. Ted Wright pose for quick photo in the shelter clinic during a rare lull in the action. Special thanks to Dr. Wright for taking time out of his busy practice at Cedar Ridge Animal Hospital in Asheville to help with the clinic and to make sure Yancey County pets are safe and protected against the rabies virus.
