Bruce Masters, age 84 of Jonesborough, TN went home to be with the Lord April 27, 2014. Bruce was born and raised in the Harrell Hill Community, in Mitchell County, NC and was a son of the late Aaron and Vista Tipton Masters.
He was a Veteran of The United States Army serving in the Korean War, where he received The Korean War Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. While stationed in Japan as a Mailing Supervisor he met his one and only love, his wife of 61 years Susan T. Masters who gave him constant care since his illness. He was a member of First Church Of The Brethren in Johnson City, TN. Bruce retired from Mason Dixon Tank Lines where he traveled over 3 million miles over a 31 year career. He received a twenty year safety award and was also a member of Teamsters 549 local.
Bruce was preceded in death by two brothers; Bill and Gene Masters, and one sister; Mable Young.
Besides his loving wife he also leaves behind four children who loved him very much daughters; Sharon Street (Roger), of Jonesborough, TN, and Linda Young (Vic), of Gray,TN, sons; James Masters (Lisa), and Mike Masters (Kim), all of Jonesborough, TN, ten grandchildren, and several great grandchildren, and his special dog "Phoebe" who brought him great joy.
Our dad loved the spring of the year. Mowing and working outside brought him great pleasure. Our loss is Heaven's gain. He will be missed as a husband, dad, papa and friend to all. We love you so much!.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM with the Funeral Service following at 8:00PM in First Church of The Brethren in Johnson City, TNwith Bo Deaton officiating. Interment will be Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 11:00AM at The Brethren Cemetery on Bart Green Drive.
