Positions Eliminated as Mission Health Consolidates

Recent staff cuts at the Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine were the result of the consolidation of the Mission Health administrative services, according to hospital officials.  Mission Health would not give specific numbers of the cuts to the staff in Spruce Pine but officials at the hospital say that there will be opportunities for those people who were cut to apply for different positions within the organization. Budget cuts and layoffs were announced last August by Mission including a 26% cut in the CEO’s pay and pay cuts ranging from 13 to 20 percent for other senior leaders within the system. Cuts are taking place across the region and are affecting hospitals from Spruce Pine to Cashiers.
