Mitchell School Board and Commissioners Honor Wrestling Team
Members of the Mitchell High wrestling team where honored on Tuesday at the school in Ledger with a ceremony to commemorate their 1A state dual-team championship for 2014. Members of the Mitchell County School Board and County Commission were on hand to join in the celebration of the numerous accomplishments made by the 32 young men who made up the team this past season. Mitchell won championships in the Western Highlands Conference, where they were undefeated, the Western Regional and State Dual competition while producing one state champion in the individual tournament while finishing second as a team in that competition. The wrestlers received their letter for their school jackets as well as patches to commemorate each championship they earned this season. But the biggest prize they were awarded was their championship rings for winning the dual title. Congratulations to the Mountaineer wrestling team, one that has set a new standard for the sport at the high school in Mitchell County.
