Presents the Avery Shining Stars 
Thursday, May 15,  6 p.m. at Avery High School! 
Don't miss the best talent in the district! 
All schools will be represented and they will be performing dance, song, instrumentals, skits, and much more! 
 There will be approximately 35 acts!  This year promises to be bigger and better!
Student art will be displayed in as well. 
 
Reminder:
The school day will return to the regular schedule on Monday, May 19.  The last day for the additional 30 minutes extended time will be on Thursday, May 15.

ACHS students present "All Shook Up"
ACHS students present the spring musical, a play described “Shakespeare Twelfth Night” with Elvis music. All-star cast of over 60 members! All tickets $5.
Performance band featuring Charlie Brown, Scott Wiseman, Spencer Dearmin, Zane McKinney, Mckinley Calloway, and community volunteer, Miriam Bailey.  Student: Dale Russ, Kellie Simon, Kasey Jones, Emma Shell, Jacob Yarber, Josh Gragg, Coleman Bailey, Raina WIseman, and Madison Sellers.

Celebrations:  Viking Girls Track team finished #4 in the state meet.  Kylie Polsgrove is the state champion in two events: 300 hurdles, 11 hurdles.  Viking Men’s Golf team finished second in the state championship.  ACHS Chorus received an Excellent rating at National Competition.  Avery FFA had 3 teams that qualified for STATE Competition in June:  Floriculture- 3rd in Region, Nursery/Landscape- 2nd in Region and Parliamentary Procedure- 3rd in Region. John Clark was elected as the 2014-15 Northwest Region Vice President. Courtney Hicks represented Avery FFA in the Talent division. Riverside Elementary School student, Gavin Stines won honorable mention for his Water and Soil Poster entry at the state level competing among 100 other entries. 
 
 
"Beat Cancer with a Bat" T-shirts $10.00 t-shirts are at Crossnore Elementary, Freedom Trail/Cranberry Middle, Avery Middle and Avery High School. 

Thank you to all who participated in the ACHS HOSA Clean Out Your Console for Leukemia.  
In that one afternoon we raised $569.79!!!!

May 15th Special Olympics at Mitchell County High School starting at 10:00 am
 
BES Beta Club is sponsoring a 5th grade fundraiser for their teacher, Mrs. Serafim's husband. Mr. Serafim is undergoing treatment for cancer at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston Texas. All proceeds will go to assist with the medical expenses.  The 5th grade is selling raffle tickets for $1 each that offers opportunity to win a golf package to the Beech Mountain Golf Course for a round of golf for four-- valued at $380.00.
 
Tickets may also be purchased in the office at the Banner Elk School.
