On Saturday, May 24 the Yancey History Association and Toe River Arts Council will celebrate the region’s mountain heritage with a day of activities, demonstrations, and story telling on the YHA grounds behind the TRAC Gallery. The Blue Ridge Heritage Day will run from 11am to 4pm. Featured among the many old timey crafts booths will be participants and instructors in TRAC’s Traditional Arts Program for Students, a weekly teaching and learning experience for grades 4-8. Instructors Ron Powell, Don Pedi, Terry McKinney, and Jared McQueen will join their kids in bringing mountain music to life. For more information, call 828-678-9587.
The Toe River Chamber Ensemble will hold its spring concert at the First Baptist Church in Burnsville on Tuesday, May 27 at 7:30pm.
