BRRH Offers Free Stroke Screenings

May is Stroke Awareness Month and our community has an opportunity to determine their stroke risk at a free stroke screening at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. Spots are still available for a free public stroke screening event to be held at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital on Thursday, May 29, 2014.

Mission Health and Blue Ridge Regional Hospital are teaming up to provide free stroke screenings to the public from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday in the hospital’s Administration lobby and adjacent conference rooms. The event includes a free test for each participant for cholesterol, triglycerides, glucose, body mass index, blood pressure and heart rate as well as education on the participant’s personal risk for stroke based on their test results. These free screenings are worth at least $200.

Each participant should fast 12 hours before the screening. Breakfast will be provided for all participants after they have completed their screening blood work.
