Details: Tonda Kay Long of Elk Park went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 15th at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Mecklenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Homer and Jean Lindsay Griffin. She was preceded in death by two sisters. Tonda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved shopping and watching her grandsons play baseball. She will always be remembered for being a caring and giving woman who was always there for her family.
Surviving is her loving husband of 17 years, Ken Long; daughters: Rhonda Johnson and husband, Van, of Crossnore and Olivia Sanchez and husband, Rafel, of Matthews; step-daughter, Deborah Gould and husband, Paul, of Jackson, NJ; step-son, Kenneth B. Long, Jr. and wife, Pilar, of Huntersville; grandchildren: Lane and Reed Johnson and Owen Sanchez; step-grandchildren: Kenneth and Christian Long and Hunter and Taylor Gould.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 19th, 2014 in First Baptist Church Crossnore. Rev. Allen Laws will officiate. Burial will follow in the Elk Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
