Clean Water for Haiti

Members of the.Rotary Club of Spruce Pine are very proud of their accomplishment in Haiti, where Rotarian Arch Woodard, International Service Chair, helped install a clean water system at an elementary school. He gave a slide presentation at the May 29th club meeting. The Rotary Club donated $5000 and with the help from two other clubs each donating $5000, the project was completed using $15,000 total contributions plus volunteer work hours. Schools are important so all the children can have clean drinking water and to be able to wash their hands. Children are change agents, when you teach them the importance of sanitation, they learn and pass it on by example.
The picture shows Dr. Woodard taking the "first sip" upon completion of the system.
