Bill Tipton, age 74, of Arbuckle, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2014 in The Yancey House. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Merritt and Harriett Young Tipton. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Geouge; two half brothers: John and Charles Tipton and a half sister, Inez Honeycutt. Bill owned and operated Crabtree Valley Starter and Alternator on Arbuckle Road and was a member of Youngs Chapel Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving is his loving wife of 56 years, Faye Edwards Tipton; daughters: Cindy Shuford and husband, Gary, of South Toe, Diane Lowery and husband, Randy, of Arbuckle, Sheila Miller and husband, Matt, also of Arbuckle; son; Billy Tipton and wife, Deidra, of Middleriver, Maryland; grandchildren: Brian Shuford, Linsey Morrison and husband, Scott, Brandon Wilson and wife, Brittany, Jason Wilson, Matthew Miller, Jr., Mark Miller, Ashley Hughes, Hillary Tipton, Bradley Tipton and Katie Tipton; great-grandchildren: Nickolas Wilson, Taylor Wilson, Lillie Grace Tipton, Eli Thomas and Kalie Lowery. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2nd in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Lawrence Glenn will officiate. Burial will follow in the Gus Young Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home on Wednesday.
