       Arnold Everette Gregory, age 83, of Charlie Brown Road, went home to be reunited with his wife on Saturday, July 05, 2014 at his home.  A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Coleman and Helen Edwards Gregory.  He was also preceded in death by his wife and love of his life, Ruth Tipton Gregory, who passed away in 1985; sister-in-law, Katie Gregory; two nephews:  Darren and Brian Phillips and an infant niece.  Arnold was a Navy Veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict.  He was a member of West Burnsville Baptist Church who enjoyed gardening, his hunting dogs and cattle, but mostly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was a great “Pa”.
     Surviving is his three daughters:  Yvonne Buchanan and husband, Jim, of Spruce Pine, Debi Ritchie and husband, Travis, of Las Vegas, NV and Vivian Hollifeld and husband, Sonny, of Charlie Brown Road; twin brother, Ronald Gregory of Charlie Brown Road, brother, Darrell Gregory and wife, Carlotta, of Nebo; four sisters:  Athlene Fox and husband, Sylvestes of Burnsville, Carolene Hooker and husband, Rev. Tommy Hooker, of Marietta, GA, Elaine Miller and husband, Lester, of Charlie Brown Road and Wanda Phillips and husband, Tommy, of Hickory; four grandchildren:  Greg Buchanan, Shelley Burse and husband, Travis, Seth Hollifield and Josh Hollifield; three great-grandchildren:  Darren Buchanan, Hallie Burse and Aliyah Burse; special friends and neighbors: Juanita Brown and David Isaacs.   Several nieces and nephews also survive.
     Per his request, the family will have a private graveside service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9th at West Burnsville Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors conducted by Sgt. E.L. Randolph Chapter #57 D.A.V.  Dr. Chris Morgan will officiate.
