Join High Peaks for a Hike at Grandfather Mountain Aug. 16

The High Peaks Trail Association will lead a hiking adventure to one of the region’s premier attractions, Grandfather Mountain, on August 16. This hike will be a strenuous eight miles, with a significant climb up the Daniel Boone Scout Trail to Calloway Peak, then along the Cragway and down the Boone Fork Extension.
Hikers should assemble at the Burnsville Town Square at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 16. The club will provide a Yancey County Transportation van for hikers for a fee of $5 per person. Please contact the hike leader to reserve your seat on the van, and remember that dogs are not allowed on the vans.
Bring a lunch, snacks, plenty of water and rain gear in case of showers. The hike will take five to six hours, and the van should return hikers to the Burnsville Town Square between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.
