The twenty-time national champion Bailey Mountain Cloggers of Mars Hill University invite everyone to help celebrate their 40th anniversary with an old-time barn dance, on Friday, August 22 in Chambers Gymnasium on the Mars Hill campus from 6 until 9 pm. The celebration will be hosted in partnership with the Liston B. Ramsey Center for Regional Studies at Mars Hill University.
The dance will feature square dances, big circle dances, live music and a dance caller. All ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate.
"The Bailey Mountain Cloggers and the Ramsey Center want to share Southern Appalachian Mountain Folk Heritage through music and dance with the public in recognition of the 40th Anniversary of the Bailey Mountain Cloggers," said Danielle Buice Plimpton, BMC Manager. "It is important to continue the traditions and remember our roots of Western North Carolina. Furthermore, we have received such wonderful support through the years from our friends and fans in western North Carolina, that we wanted to commemorate this important milestone with them."
