Legislation Honoring Area Forest Service Officer Jason Crisp
On August 12th President Obama signed into law a bill commemorating U.S. Forest Service Officer Jason Crisp. Officer Crisp and his K-9 partner, Maros, lost their lives in the line of duty in March when ambushed during a manhunt in Burke County. The bill the President signed designates a ranger station within the Grandfather Ranger District as the “Jason Crisp Forest Service Building.” The new Jason Crisp Building will serve as a lasting tribute to his service and a constant reminder of the brave men and women in law enforcement who put their safety at risk to protect our communities every day. Crisp began his career on the Grandfather Ranger District as a timber marker and graduated from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in 2005.
