Details: Herman Huskins of Seven Mile Ridge, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 17th, 2014 at Mountain Manor Assisted Living.
A native of Yancey County he was a son of the late Virgil and Lula Morgan Huskins. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Arbula Huskins who passed away in 1943 and brothers: Gary Huskins who passed away in 1970 and Albert Huskins who passed away in 2011. Herman retired from the furniture industry in the Lenior/Hickory area where he worked all his life. He was a member of South Toe Baptist Church, loved family get togethers and loved growing a garden.
Surviving is a daughter, Crystal Pace and husband, Tim, of Clayton; son, Rodney Huskins of Marion; sisters: Marie Dale of Old Fort, Jean Gouge and husband, Phillip, of Blue Rock and Barbara Gurley of Asheville; brothers: Roy Huskins and wife, Hazel, of Seven Mile Ridge, Ray Huskins and wife, Norma, also of Seven Mile Ridge and Larry Huskins and Barb of Little Switzerland and very special friend, Ree Wyatt of Morganton. Five grandchildren: Tim Huskins, Wayne Pace, Josh Blackwelder, Susan Blackwelder and Austin Goode ; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Randy Autrey and Rev. Billy Joe Mitchell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of a brother, Roy Huskins.
