Fatal Accident in McDowell County
A McDowell County man died Tuesday afternoon when his car crashed into a railroad bridge abutment. 21-year-old Jonathan Luke Brown of Marion was on his way to work at Baxter Manufacturing. The crash occurred on Highway 221 North, near the plant. Highway Patrol Trooper Josh Settlemyre said excessive speed caused the crash, where the CSX railroad tracks cross over the highway and that Brown was wearing a seatbelt and that the airbag in his car deployed, but that the force of the impact was simply too great for either to help save his life.
