Mayland Community College President Dr. John Boyd has been chosen to serve as the chairperson for the Community Colleges of the Appalachia (CCA). Boyd will serve in this capacity for a two-year term.
The CCA is a voluntary organization of public community colleges who serve the common interests of member colleges and their communities through programs and services beneficial to the unique cultural, geographic, and economic development challenges facing the region. The organization works closely with the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC).
The CCA encourages growth of member colleges, works to build greater awareness among the public, higher education community, regional and national funding sources, and other resources vital to the success of community colleges located in the ARC service area. The 13 state region covers areas from southern New York to northern Mississippi with membership that includes 63 community colleges.
