Joe Emmitt Duncan, age 88, of the Bear Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 19th, 2016 at Mountain Manor Assisted Living. A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late Carroll and Jenny Willis Duncan. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sally Duncan; sister, Sis Duncan and brothers: Clifford and Frank Duncan. He was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church. Joe enjoyed horseback riding, sharing his travel stories and spending time with his family who he loved dearly.
Surviving is his daughters: Angelina Linthicum and husband, Billy, of Winston Salem and Julianna Stout of Hendersonville; sons: Joe Duncan and wife, Beth, of Burnsville, Ted Duncan of Hendersonville and Russell Duncan; brother, Lewis Duncan and wife, Lenny, of Spruce Pine; sisters-in-law, Nora Lee Duncan and Vickie Duncan both of Bakersville; granddaughter, Brandy Duncan; grandsons: Michael "Mikey" Wiseman and wife, Kimberly, Jonathan Duncan, Dylan Duncan and Jonathan BAine and wife, Jill and great-grandchildren: Ayden and Grayson Wilson and Anna Asher, Salem and Deacon Baine. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27th in Bear Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Brent Duncan will officiate. Yancey Funeral Service is serving the Duncan family.
