The investigation into the murder of Thomas Bryson continues. Documents show that investigators met Phillip Stroupe Sr at the Starbucks at the Asheville Mall to get his help in finding his son. At that time they secretly placed a GPS tracker on his vehicle, hoping he would lead them to the younger Stroupe. Investigators then followed the suspect's father to help finally capture accused killer Phillip Stroupe II. Stroupe's father has been charged with accessory after the fact to first degree murder and accessory after the fact kidnapping. Court documents also show that investigators found four different items of interest at the house on Rocky Lane in Barnardsville, where authorities believe the younger Stroupe hid during the manhunt. That house burned down last week. That fire is being investigated as a possible arson. Authorities seized black painted pieces of grass which may be related to the black painted on Thomas Bryson's silver Honda Ridgeline truck. They also found a Walmart receipt, a cell phone and shoe impressions from one of the home's bedrooms. Investigators also searched the vehicle of one of the accessory suspects, seizing two cell phones and a piece of trim.
