Percival Honored for Contributions

Mars Hill College Competes in Ethics Bowl


A team of five students from Mars Hill College competed February 10 and 11 in the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities inaugural Ethics Bowl competition, “Ethics in the Workplace” at Meredith College. The competition featured teams from 14 private institutions across the state and gave students the opportunity to debate ethical situations relevant to the workforce. The NCICU Ethics Bowl is designed to provide an academic experience that increases student awareness about applying ethics in leadership, decision-making, interpersonal relationships and other issues in today’s society. Competing from Mars Hill College were:  front row (l-r) Reba West, Michelle Payne, Christina Dalamangas, Meagan Green; and back row (l-r): Austin Wynn, Michael Pinkerton.  Campus Coordinator was Dr. Barry Sharpe (back right), associate professor of political science.

Dr. Vice Community Lecture


The newest member of the orthopedic team at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital, Dr. Marvin Vice, held a community lecture on February 10, 2012 at the Mitchell Senior Center. Lecture attendees heard information related to multiple orthopedic procedures including therapy, joint replacement and the equipment used in joint replacement procedures. Speaker Dr. Marvin Vice has over 30 years of experience in orthopedics and is pleased to be a part of the Blue Ridge Regional Hospital Orthopedic team. “It is wonderful to get out and meet people in the community,” says Vice “I enjoy answering questions and discussing how our orthopedic team can help people and improve their quality of life.”

Dr. Vice will be holding another lecture at the Mitchell Senior Center in ledger on February 24, 2012 at 9:00 AM. All lectures are free to the community and everyone is invited to attend.
