All-Day Prayer and Fasting


Asheville United Christian Church, with Rev. Larry Nix, will hold an All-Day Prayer and Fasting on Saturday May 25th from 6:00am-6:00pm.  Everyone is invited to come to pray and fast and seek God's help for our nation.

God's Hands Ministry Food Giveaway - New Schedule


God's Hands Ministry gives away free food every other Saturday from 8:30am-noon at the Crabtree Chapel Baptist Church located at the Mitchell/Yancey county line "up the valley" above Young's Mountain Music.  All who are in need are urged to stop by.  For more information call Rev. Memorial Day Service


Unity Baptist Church of Burnsville will be having a Memorial Day Service on Saturday May 25th at 5:00pm.  This will be a time to remember the men and women who gave all serving our great nation.  Rev. Tom Walker, pastor of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Marion, NC and Rev. Luther Spivey will be doing the preaching. The Zion Hill Baptist Church Youth Choir will be singing, and other special singing.  A special invitation goes out to all veterans.  Pastor Ricky Hensley and Unity Baptist Church invite all to attend. 

Gospel Singing at Beans Creek FWB Church


There will be a Gospel Singing at Beans Creek Freewill Baptist Church Saturday May 25th at 7:00pm.  Singing will be Scotty Whitson and his family from Unicoi, TN and Forrest and Norma Hopson.  Pastor C. J. Robinson and the congregation welcomes everyone.

Benefit Luncheon


Belview Baptist Church in Newland, NC will be having a benefit luncheon on Friday May 31st from 11:00am-2:00pm.   They will have a choice of spaghetti lunch or grilled chicken salad.  Food will be served in the church fellowship hall or local delivery is available for groups.  Cost is $8 a plate.  Proceeds will benefit the church youth group.  For more information call Pastor Mike Ricker at 828-385-2645.  

Benefit Country Breakfast


Mt. Calvary FWB Church, located on Brushy Creek Road, Spruce Pine, will be having a Benefit Country Breakfast for Danny and Susan Burleson of  Little Buck Hill Road, Newland, on Saturday June 1st from 7:00am-9:30am. The price will be donations.  Proceeds will help with medical bills that have been incurred during the past few months.  You can dine in and there will be carryouts available.

Bible School at West Burnsville Baptist Church


Bible School time is here at West Burnsville Baptist Church. June 2 – 7. Face Your Fears at Colossal Coaster World is the theme. Tap into God’s promise to give your courage to face your fears by trusting Him. Your day at the park will include Bible stories about Paul and his journey to face his fears by trusting God. In this one week adventure, kids will learn to trust God through Bible stories, crafts, motivating music and games. Everyone is invited and welcome. Classes for all ages including adults. Spaghetti Day


Sacred Heart Catholic Church, located at 20 Summit Street in Burnsville, will be holding a "Spaghetti Day" Friday June 21st with lunch (takeout only) from 11:00am-1:00pm (For takeout orders call 682-7477), and dinner from 4:30pm-7:00pm (eat in or takeout). Cost is $10 for adults, children 7 and under eat free.  Tickets will be available at the door.

Toe River Christian Homeschoolers Group


The Toe River Christian Homeschoolers group (T.R.C.H) is a local homeschool support group.   We offer a variety of activities including education, co-op classes, self defense class, swimming, skating, social gatherings and field trips! Outreach Education for Churches & Community Groups

Mitchell County Shepherd's Staff Has New Hours


The Mitchell County Shepherd's Staff has new hours.  They are open Monday and Wednesday from 10:00am-4:00pm, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00am-6:00pm.  They are closed daily from noon-1:00pm for lunch.  Mitchell County Shepherd's Staff is located in the former office of High Valley Construction on the Bakersville Highway near the intersection of Penland Road.  For more information call 765-5385.
