The eighth grade from Cane River Middle School in Burnsville, N.C., visited Mars Hill University today. The students spent some time on campus, ate in the cafeteria, toured the Rural Heritage Museum, and even browsed the MHU Bookstore. The visit is one of several to universities in the region sponsored by the GEAR UP grant program, which is designed to increase the number of students who are prepared for postsecondary education.
