Mother and Son Charged in Jail Drug Conspiracy

Detective Patrick Guion of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office has charged Doris Ann Cochran, age 62, of 860 Marlowe Road in Marion, with conspiracy to sell and deliver a Schedule III controlled substance and providing contraband to an inmate. Guion also charged Kevin Christopher Lail, age 34, also of 860 Marlowe Road in Marion, with conspiracy to sell and deliver a Schedule III controlled substance.

On Wednesday, Feb. 14, Lail, who is incarcerated in the McDowell County jail, received a card in the mail that jail officers found to contain Suboxone strips. Suboxone is used in the treatment of opiod dependence but is considered an illegal controlled substance. Suboxone strips dissolve in the mouth.  Cochran was apparently buying the drugs and furnishing them to Lail, who was selling them to other inmates.
