Motorcyclist Charged After Short Pursuit

(Press Release from McDowell County Sheriff’s Department) Deputy Jesse Hicks of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Timothy Alan Buchanan, 31, of 322 Burma Road West in Marion, with fleeing to elude arrest, reckless driving to endanger, failure to heed a light and siren and driving the wrong way on a dual-lane road. The N.C. Highway Patrol also charged Buchanan with multiple traffic offenses. Shortly before 11 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, Hicks was at the intersection of Goose Creek Road and U.S. 221 South, when a black motorcycle passed him at a high rate of speed and had no tag displayed. When the deputy attempted to stop the Honda cycle, the driver sped up, passed a pickup truck on a double-yellow line, and, when he attempted to turn onto Interstate 40, ran off the road. At that time, Hicks took the driver, identified as Buchanan, into custody.
