Yancey County has issued a proclamation declaring a county state of emergency in response to anticipated impacts from Hurricane Florence. This declaration was effective at Noon, Thursday, September 13 and includes the Town of Burnsville. The state of emergency activates the county emergency operations plan.
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Western North Carolina from Saturday morning through Monday evening.
Officials are reminding residents to only call 911 for emergency situations.
