Stabbing in Madison County

According to Madison County Sheriff’s Office detectives a stabbing occurred in the Sandy Mush community Sunday, October 14th. The victim, Mark Surrett, was hit with a wooden gardening tool, a large rock, a splitting ax and stabbed with a knife. Apparently after the assault, Mark Surrett was taken to a fire department in Leicester. Detectives interviewed Christopher Glen Gentry about the assault and he confessed.   Gentry has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill, felony possession of methamphetamine, child abuse, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of tattooing equipment. Gentry’s girlfriend, Lori Katlin Surrett was charged with child abuse. Madison County DSS removed the couple’s minor child from the home after being contacted by the Sheriff’s Department.  It is unclear as to what led to the altercation.
