Good Economic News for Mitchell County

Good economic news for Mitchell County with both Spruce Pine and Bakersville adding several new businesses. Spruce Pine Main Street has been working to redevelop downtown Spruce Pine with the two separate building purchases and renovations. One of those renovations, in the old McCall’s building,  will be the new home of Poppy’s Wildcraft, a natural herb and gift store and La Cruces, a Latin-Fusion restaurant and mexican Tapas bar by YUMMI, which currently  has a location in Burnsville. Spruce Pine Main Street also has recently purchased and is renovating  the Mayland Printing building.

Bakerville has three new businesses opening soon. The Southern Ridge Cafe is a fresh farm to table cafe located in downtown Bakersville, Blessed Mama Boutique is also downtown. They will have children’s, women’s and men’s clothing, jewelry and shoes. Another clothing store, Southern Roots will open near Mammie’s Kitchen in Bakersville. They will have men’s, women’s and children clothing plus farmhouse decor and gifts.
