Another earthquake has been recorded for the high country. Avery County recorded a 2.0 magnitude earthquake on Saturday night, November 10th. The earthquake happened around 10:30 p.m. and was located less than a half a mile east from Whaley and about 14 miles west of Boone. The last time an earthquake hit in Avery County was July 21st of 2016, when a 1.9 magnitude hit about 5 miles southwest of Newland.
