The Yancey County Department of Social Services will be taking applications for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program beginning on December 3rd. This will be only for households that contain someone who is age sixty years and older or those receiving assistance through the Division of Aging. Applications will be taken from 8:30 am until noon at First Baptist Church on Town Square. They will be back at the office at 2 pm to take applications. They will be taking applications the entire month of December. You need to bring the social security numbers for everyone in the household, verification of November income for all household members and bank statements for all household members for November if available.
If there is money left in January, they will take applications for all households beginning on January 2, 2019 from 8:30 until noon at the First Baptist Church on Town Square. Then back at the office at 2 pm to take applications. They will take applications as long as funds last.
