Fourth Suspect Arrested in South Toe Break-Ins

With some convictions already completed and much of the stolen property recovered. Detectives with the Yancey County Sheriff’s Office have a fourth suspect in custody. Darryl Scott Causby, 56, of Arrowwood Road in Marion was taken into custody in Rutherford County and transported back to Yancey County on Friday, November 29th where he is charged with 30 Felony Counts and 7 Misdemeanor Counts.

The breaking and entering investigations into no less than twelve homes and out buildings in the Rock Creek area of the South Toe Community was active January through March of 2018 culminating in three arrests. Closure of this investigation was made possible by an exhaustive surveillance effort by Deputies resulting with a suspect being apprehended in the act of breaking and entering a residence.  Three trucks and a loaded rollback of personal property were recovered with an estimated value of $100,000.00.  Most of which was recovered from the Nix Creek and Old Fort areas of McDowell County.

Darryl Scott Causby has been charged with 11 Counts of Felony Breaking And/Or Entering; 9 Counts of Felony Larceny After Break and/Or Entering; 9 Counts of Felony Possession Of Stolen Goods/Property; 1 Count of Felony Attempt Break And/Or Enter Building; 4 Counts of Misdemeanor Injury To Personal Property; and 3 Counts of Misdemeanor Injury To Real Property. Causby remains in the Yancey County Detention Center under a $183,000.00 bond awaiting his next Yancey County District Court appearance on Monday, December 10th, 2018.
