Felon with a Firearm Arrested without Incident

Deputies with the Yancey County Sheriff Office deescalated a tense situation on Sunday December 9th, 2018 and took a convicted Felon with a firearm into custody without Incident. Deputies were called to an address on Bill Allen Branch and safely arrested Robert Sterling Silvers.  Silvers is a convicted Felon and was in possession of a firearm, his 2nd time being arrested for the same charge.  He was out on bond awaiting a January 7th 2019 Superior Court date  for Felony Possession of Firearm by a Felon and 2 Counts of Felony Probation Violation charges from 2017. He will also face a Felony Habitual Felon charge from 2018 on that date. Robert Sterling Silvers’ new arrest is for his 2nd Felony Possession of Firearm by a Felon and Felony Probation Violation charges. Silvers is in the custody of the Yancey County Detention Center under a $30,000.00 bond awaiting his first Yancey County District Court Appearance on these charges on December 21st, 2018.
