Sharon Lynn Wilson

Sharon Lynn Wilson, 67, of the Bald Creek community, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

A native of Yancey County she was a daughter of Ronald E. Wilson and the late Ruby Brinkley Wilson.

Sharon was a member of Bald Creek United Methodist Church, where she was chairman of the Outreach Committee, as well as the Membership Secretary, and served the church in numerous other capacities.

She took great pleasure in working at Camp Funshine, enjoying the interaction with the staff as well as being a part of the lives of  the campers and their families.  Sharon had the heart of a caregiver to so many people, which was evident in her everyday life.  She retired from the UNCG School of Nursing, where she was employed for 30 years before moving to Yancey County and working part-time at Mayland Community College.

Surviving, in addition to her father, is her sister:  Dawn W. Wyrick and husband, Bobby, of Reidsville.  She was the “great and wonderful Aunt Sharon” to her nieces:   Cynthia L. Ayers and husband, Steve, of Midlothian, VA, and Patricia D. Coleman and husband, Johnny, of Reidsville, great niece:  Ashland Edwards and husband, Tony, great nephews:  Dillion Jones and Brandon Zimmerman and Cole Zimmerman, and great, great nephew:  Brantlee Edwards.

A memorial service will be held at 11AM Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Bald Creek United Methodist Church. Dr. Rev. Keith Haverkamp will officiate.

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church
