Joyce Cannon McIntosh

Joyce Cannon McIntosh, age 68, of the Elk Shoal Community, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 1st, 2019 at Mission Memorial Campus.  A lifelong resident of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Ford and Pearl Phillips Cannon.  She was also preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Cannon; paternal-grandmother, Lula L. Cannon Street, with whom she had a special relationship with and grandchildren:  Trevor and Rhianna McIntosh.  Joyce loved her Lord and recently attended Bethel Baptist Church in Mars Hill.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her family, whom she adored.  Joyce’s hobbies included gardening and working in her flowers.

Surviving is her loving husband of 50 years, Jimmy  McIntosh; sons:  Randall McIntosh and wife, Jessica and Mike McIntosh and wife, Angela, both of Burnsville; four grandchildren;  siblings:  Norma Hughes and husband, Danny, of Erwin, TN, Steve Cannon and wife, Barbara, of Burnsville, Mike Cannon and wife, Wanda Lea, of Burnsville, Johanna Foster and husband, David, of Erwin, TN and Debbie King and husband, Brent, of Burnsville and a sister-in-law, Helen Cannon of Burnsville.  Many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 7th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services.  Rev. Danny Hughes, Rev. Eddie Rice and Rev. Bobby Sprinkle will officiate.  Burial will follow in the James McIntosh Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home and at all other times will be at the home of the son, Randall and Jessica McIntosh on Proffitt Branch Road.  To send online condolences, please visit www.yanceyfuneralservice.com
