Glenn Garland

Glenn Garland, age 79, of the Indian Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Madison Health and Rehabilitation.

A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Jim and Tina Silvers Garland.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sisters: Betty Sue Garland, Billie Marie Garland and Inez Lankford and brothers: Ed Garland, Earl Garland, Hollis Garland, Ray Garland and Donald Garland.  Glenn was a member of Indian Creek Baptist Church and worked for Western Waterproofing for most of his life.  He loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Will McPeters Garland; sons: Ricky Garland and his wife, Patricia, of Bald Creek, and Rodney Garland and his wife, Tyrina, of Indian Creek; sister, Wanda Garland of Asheville; grandchildren: Stuart Garland, Charity Bartlett and her husband, Seth, Jacob Garland and his wife, Say-Lee, and Brandon Garland; and great granddaughters, Amber and Ella Mae.  Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2019 in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services.  Rev. Phillip Garland will officiate.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Shepherd Cemetery on Indian Creek as weather permits.
