Mitchell County Chamber Office and Visitor Center and Museum of NC Minerals Closed for Now

The Mitchell County Chamber had reached an agreement with the National Park Service to keep the Mitchell County Visitor Center and Museum of NC Minerals open during the government shut down. This meant that they could still keep the facility open to the public, but would not have support staff and maintenance from the Park Service. Unfortunately, during the last week, the Park Service has discovered some problems with the water system at the Museum/Visitor Center which has resulted in the restrooms being closed to the public. Because of the shutdown, the Park Service cannot send staff to fix the problem. Due to this, the Park Service has closed the facility  beginning Saturday, January 5th until further notice. The Chamber can be reached at 828-765-9033.
