Charles E. Carroll, age 85, of Sweetwater, TN, entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 11th, 2019 at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, TN. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Crawford and Hettie Hunter Carroll. He was also preceded in death by a son, Eddie Carroll; two infant siblings; a sister, Evelyn Boone and brothers: Junior, Roy, Mack and Ray Carroll.
Surviving is his children: David Carroll of Thompson, GA, Jimmy Carroll of Sweetwater, TN, Geneva Hassell of Sweetwater, TN, Randall Carroll and wife, Karen, of Burnsville, Melinda Poe of Sweetwater, TN, Robert Carroll and wife, Roxanne, of Thompson, GA and Santana Basnett and husband, Michael, of Morganton; siblings: JC Carroll of Marion, James Carroll of Burnsville, Hoyle Carroll and wife, Joanne, of Marion, Phillip Carroll and wife, Becky, of Mars Hill, Mildred Letterman and husband, Johnny, of Plum Branch, Lois Belcher and husband, Dave, of Elijay, GA, Faye Hudrow of Calhoun, GA and Jane Bollinger of Blacksburg, SC; twenty three grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and other extended family also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 19th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Jerry Shelton will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pete Young Cemetery.
