Dan Glenn, age 81, of Wilson Road in Bakersville died Friday, January 18, 2019 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.
Born on March 28, 1937 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Taylor Tony and Nora Mace Glenn. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Hugh Glenn.
Dan was retired from the U.S. Navy where he achieved the rank of E-8. He was a member of the Black Mountain Baptist Church in Mitchell County. He loved spending time with his family and was particularly fond of spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a beekeeper and member of the Toe River Beekeepers Association.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife; Keiko H. Glenn of Bakersville; his daughters; Brenda Lawyer and husband, Mitchell of Bakersvile and Shirley Singleton and husband, Jeff of Spruce Pine; his grandson; Daniel Singleton and wife, Stacy of Bakersville; his granddaughter; Kayla Shepherd and husband, Walton of Waynesville; his great grandson; Liam Shepherd; his great granddaughter; Riverly Singleton; his brother; John Glenn and wife, Lou of Lenoir; and his sister; Nancy Snipes.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Dan Glenn on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Black Mountain Baptist Church with the Rev. Josh Cook officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the Black Mountain Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Collis Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites provided by Sgt. E. L. Randolph Chapter #57 DAV.
