Mitchell Seniors Attend NCWorks Career Center Presentations

On February 26th and 28th, Mitchell High School seniors attended NCWorks sessions scheduled through the Mitchell High CTE during SOAR.  The visiting NCWorks Career Advisors talked to Mitchell High School seniors about NCWorks Career Centers and gave advice to seniors about how to present themselves to others as they begin to look for employment and plan a career.

Career Advisor, Brent Ramsey presented information about the NCWorks Career Center and the services offered.  The students were give and overview of the website including how to use the job search section along with other resources it provides such as resume builder and variety of assessments.  Brent also discussed a variety of interview techniques with the seniors.

April Jones, NCWorks Career Advisor, discussed 1st Impressions and personal branding and how that ties in to when a student presents their self for career opportunities. During the discussion, April and the students discussed what employers are looking for and what they value the most in their job and how to use that when starting a job search.

The NCWorks Career Centers are user-friendly facilities located throughout North Carolina. They provide job seekers, those seeking training, and employers’ access to career training and job placement services while also serving as the connection between employers and qualified workers. Free services available include career and personal assessments, employment readiness preparation, scholarships for skills training, job placement assistance, paid work based learning opportunities, résumé preparation and career counseling.
