Motorcycle Fatality Saturday on Blue Ridge Parkway

Yancey County dispatch says a man was killed Saturday on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Blue Ridge Parkway officials say motorcyclist Bryant Chandler, 60, of Columbia South Carolina, was killed in a wreck at the intersection of the Parkway and Highway 128.

A release from the National Park Service says crews arrived to find others doing CPR on Chandler, but the efforts were unsuccessful and he died from his injuries.

The Park Service says a preliminary investigation shows Chandler was riding southbound with a group heading to Mt. Mitchell State Park for lunch.

The motorcycle in front of Chandler slowed to make the right turn when Chandler ran into the rear of the bike.
