Department of Social Services

I am trying to understand something and maybe someone can help me to? I am a taxpaying citizen, and am paying into the system so that one day I might be able to retire and live the rest of my life without having to be a burden on anyone or any assistance programs that can be used and abused by so may people in this county and this country these days. If someone is drawing disability and getting DSS assistance, including free medical and prescription care, how is it right that they are eligible to continually receive assistance thru the system? Does the DSS every pay welfare visits to any of their adult clients to audit them to see if they are living above what is being given to them by DSS, or is it once in the system you are always in the system not matter what your current situation maybe?
Accountability and audits are something that needs to be done to the clients who abuse the system.
