Mitchell High School CTE Students Attend National Advanced Manufacturing Day Event

Mitchell High School had a total of 31 Career and Technical Education students in Drafting Engineering II and Welding attend a National Manufacturing Day event at the Anspach Advanced Manufacturing Campus at Mayland’s Yancey Campus on Wednesday, October 23rd. The students were exposed to advanced manufacturing equipment, welding and processes that are used to train the next generation in CNC machines, robotics, engineering and 3D printing. The students’ toured departments in computer programming, welding, CNC machining, drafting, mechatronics, and robotics. After touring the facilities the students met with local industry representatives from Altec and BRP to discuss careers available locally in their facilities. . Overall, attending the National Manufacturing Day event allowed students to learn about careers, meet with industry representatives, learn about education opportunities and assist them with information to plan a career pathway.  Career and Technical Education teachers, Mitch Warren and Victoria Banner along with Denise Murphy, CTE Facilitator would like to thank Ted Ollis for the invitation to attend this year’s event. This was the perfect event for CTE students to see how their current CTE courses, future educational plans, local industry and career plans all connect.
