All three towns in Mitchell and Yancey counties will hold town elections tomorrow. Bakersville has two incumbents running for the town council, Charlie Nash and Beau Thomas. The third person vying for the two seats is Andy Palmer. In Spruce Pine the town council is uncontested so James Acuff and Rocky Buchanan will retain their seats. The Mayor’s seat is also up for election in Spruce Pine. Incumbent Mayor Darla Harding is seeking re-election while Lori McIntyre is the challenger.
In Yancey County there are two seats up for grabs in the Burnsville town council election. Incumbent Judy Buchanan seeks re-election and Danny McIntosh is also listed on the ballot. Denise Collier has announced as a write-in candidate for the Burnsville town council.
