Update from Yancey County Sheriff’s Office. We have received credible information that the suspect we have been searching for, is no longer in our county. Thank you to our community for all of the assistance.
The Yancey County Sheriff’s Office has been involved in a search overnight for a suspect that escaped custody from the Unicoi County Sheriff’s Office into Yancey County yesterday evening. The suspects name is Christopher Saults. He is a white male with dark hair, approximately 6′ 4″ tall, with brown eyes. He has several car thefts and drug charges from the Johnson City Police Department and a history of trying to flee from police in Johnson City.
Saults was seen in Yancey County yesterday. Authorities say if you live in the 19W area of Yancey County near the Tennessee state line make sure your home doors are locked and vehicle keys secured.
