Devon Geouge

Devon Geouge, age 38, of Bakersville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 8th, 2020 at Mission Hospital.

A native of Yancey County, he was the son of Dickie and Doris McGee Geouge.  He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James Richard and Hattie Mae Thomas Geouge and maternal grandfather, Julian “Dooley” McGree.

Devon loved to ride four wheelers, dirt bikes and play with his remote control cars.  He always helped everyone he could.

Surviving in addition to his parents Dickie and Doris are his sisters:  Tonya Beaver (Johnny Huskins) of Burnsville and Stacey Mayes (Gary Godrey); adopted brothers: Blake Mayes, Jeffrey Geouge and Benjamin Geouge; nephews: Christian, Zachary and Dominic Beaver; maternal grandmother, JoAnn Garland McGee; uncles: Jimmie McGee, Tommy McKinney (Janice), Allen McGee (Kathy) and Tony Geouge and aunt, Janice Collins (Roy).  Several cousins and many friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Service.   The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM prior to the services at the funeral home.  Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in Blue Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
