Yancey EDC and the Economic Development Partnership of NC hosted a meeting at the Burnsville Town Center on Monday with corporate officials from Little Leaf Farms and various state, local, and private partners in their new venture in Yancey County.

Paul Sellew, Founder and CEO, of Little Leaf Farms presented a slide show on the Little Leaf company and the plans for the new facility in Burnsville.  He explained several reasons for the selection of Burnsville as the new location.  The climate, a great transportation hub, strong workforce, an available site and a great incentive package because of the tradition of agriculture in NC.

The company will invest up to $86 million in Burnsville in a multi-phased planned expansion by building an approximately twenty-acre state of the art greenhouse complex in Yancey County at the old OMC location.  Final site layout is being worked on at this time. Over several years, the company may add 100 jobs to Yancey County. Most of the jobs will begin in the year 2021.
