If you are thinking you don’t have to worry about taxes until April 15, think again. Personal property tax listings are due January 31st. That means you must submit a list of all the personal taxable property that you own as of January 1, 2020. Taxable personal property includes vehicles not currently registered with the Department of Motor Vehicles. Those vehicles include cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles, tow-able campers, mobile homes, apportioned trucks and buses, permanent tagged trailers, boats, watercraft and aircraft. It also includes any business personal property assets. These items must be listed with the Tax Office by 5 pm on January 31st or face a 10% late listing penalty. If you do not receive a listing form in the mail go by the Tax Office.
